Who We Are

The Ijebu Association of United States of America, Washington Chapter, is a cultural and community organization dedicated to uniting Ijebu descendants living in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The Ijebu people are a prominent Yoruba subgroup from Ogun State, Nigeria, with a rich history dating back centuries.

Our Heritage

The Ijebu people are renowned for their entrepreneurial spirit, rich cultural traditions, and strong community values. Our heritage includes the famous Ojude Oba festival, traditional Agemo worship, and a long history of trade and commerce that dates back to the 15th century when the Ijebu were among the first Yoruba people to make contact with Europeans.

Our Objectives
